A 24-year-old Florida man has been arrested on charges of trying to circumcise his 20-month-old nephew with an ordinary knife.
Police visited the Spring Manor apartment complex in Ocala on reports that the man had tried to circumcise his nephew, and arrested Larry Leroy Floyd on one count of aggravated domestic battery, according to an Ocala.com report.
Police say it happened at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. The father of the boy had left him in the care of his two brothers-in-law to go grocery shopping. The child was sleeping at the time.
The father returned home to find his child bleeding, and Floyd told him that he had circumcised him, according to police, who said that Floyd then left the scene.
The father took his son to the hospital, where his condition is not known, but reports indicate he is likely to recover.
Floyd has been arrested numerous times since 2008, and has faced charges ranging from stalking to armed robbery to drugs.
The Spring Manor complex has become notorious in the area for a number of recent fatal shootings as well as other criminal activity, according to the report.
Floyd had apparently used a kitchen knife, and the other brother-in-law was in another room and didn’t know what was happening, authorities believe, according to a New York Daily News report.
