Beyonce, Jay Z on Solange Knowles: We've got 99 problems, but…

A statement is released, but it raises more questions than answers.

The first family of the music  world have issued a statement, and it seems to have raised more questions than answers.

Beyoncé, Jay Z, and Solange Knowles sought to address the firestorm over a video released earlier this week that shows Solange kicking and hitting Jay Z while in an elevator the Met Gala. The video, which has garnered national attention, has raised questions over Solange’s relationship with her sister and Jay Z.

“As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it,” read a statement released to The Associated Press on Thursday.

“Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.”

The statement does not address the cause of the incident, which some have speculated as resulting from an invitation to Rihanna’s after party, which Jay Z was planning to attend solo.

The statement follows news that the Standard Hotel in New York fired the employee who leaked the security video showing Beyonce’s sister Solange Knowles appearing to attack her brother-in-law, Jay Z. The hotel said the person was terminated for breaching their security policies.

Celebrity website TMZ released the three-minute video and said it was shot last week in a Standard Hotel elevator. The video shows Solange kicking and hitting Jay Z before a security guard stepped in to restrain the woman.
