I’m a Libertarian, so personally, I would like the government out of my wallet and out of my health insurance. As a veteran I experienced the horror of government involved in health insurance. The VA knew I had diabetes and didn’t tell me while I killed myself with sugar for a year. I only found out they knew when I went to the ER and the doctor found that my blood sugar was 275. I’ve heard plenty of stories like this and that is what government-run healthcare looks like.
Hopefully Trump will keep his word and completely repeal Obamacare. As tax season quickly approaches paying the penalty may be on your mind if you didn’t have health insurance in 2016. Thankfully there are some loop-holes to get out of paying the penalty:
Either file the form yourself or take it to your tax preparer when you go to file your 2016 tax returns.
