Alaska Cannabis Club owned by TV reporter who dramatically quit on air raided by police

The Alaska Cannabis Club, a medical marijuana dispensary in Anchorage owned by former KTVA-TV reporter Charlo Greene, was raided by police on Friday after multiple reports of illegal pot sales. Green infamously quit her job while on the air in September. The video of Greene’s live, on-air resignation went viral as she announced that she would be dedicating all of her energy toward legalizing marijuana in Alaska, ending with “f*** it, I quit.”

Legalization of marijuana went into effect in February in Alaska, although the state Legislature still has not set guidelines for business practices. Alaskan residents over 21 may now grow and use pot, but it is still illegal to sell it. Greene claims that her business is a medical marijuana dispensary and sells no recreational marijuana.

Also known as Charlene Egbe, Greene posted a message on her Instagram page on Saturday, saying she was “robbed by the Anchorage Police Department at gunpoint.” Police seized drugs and paraphernalia, bank statements, computer records and two vehicles.

The search warrant stated that there was concealed property at the clubhouse and in the vehicles, including marijuana, THC derivatives such as hashish, edibles, concentrates and equipment used for extracting THC. It is illegal in Alaska to manufacture cannabis concentrates withing the municipality unless the manufacturer is “validly licensed and permitted,” according to an ordinance passed in February.

According to APD spokesperson Jennifer Castro, no arrests have been made and no charges filed. An investigation is ongoing.
