‘Mini-Me’ actor hospitalized after seizure at Texas Comic Con

Verne Troyer, best known for his role as Mini-Me in the Austin Powers films, gave his fans a big scare on Saturday as he was rushed to the hospital after suffering a seizure at a meet-and-greet event.

Troyer was attending the Heart of Texas Comic Con in Waco, TX, when he had the seizure. A fan identified on Instagram as @oqtimusqrime posted a picture of herself and the 46-year-old star shortly after he was taken to the hospital, with the caption, “Verne had a seizure earlier right in front of me, but I have heard that he is resting back in his hotel. I’m so glad he’s ok!” She went on to say, “I’m not sure exactly what happened, just know that he got really tired and started seizing and spitting up blood. So scary, my heart stopped!”

Troyer confirmed that he was fine later in the day by posting on Twitter: “Everything’s ok guys. Thanks for the concern.”

The two feet, eight inch tall actor is best known for his iconic role as a miniature clone of Dr. Evil, who first appeared in the 1999 film sequel Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. He has also performed roles in movies such as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, and appeared VH1’s reality show The Surreal Life.

Troyer seemed in good spirits the past few weeks, as he posted photos of himself to Instagram with funny and self-deprecating captions. “Freaking Yoda’s taller than me,” he commented on a picture of himself from last week, standing next to a life-size model of the famous Star Wars Jedi.
