Missouri teen tries to kidnap 10-year-old girl from friend’s home: police

Authorities believe 17-year-old John Thomas Classen was obsessed with his friend's sister and planned to rape her before police stepped in.

A Missouri teenager abducted a 10-year-old girl from his friend’s home and intended to rape her, but authorities stepped in, police say.

John Thomas Classen, 17, was reportedly obsessed with the young sister of his friend when he kidnapped her Thursday, and authorities rescued her about 35 minutes later finding her with bruises on her body, according to a Fox News report.

Classen has been charged with child kidnapping, burglary, and a pair of child abuse counts, with his bail set at $1.5 million. The girl police say he kidnapped was the sister of a boy he had been friends with for about five years, as well as classmates at their high school.

The brother found out that his friend sent the girl a message through social media indicating that he thought she was cute and he was in love with her, which the brother initially thought he was saying with good intentions, but in reality Classen planned to kidnap her, according to the report.

Details on where he expected to hide out and how he was going to kidnap her were reportedly found in his phone.

He finally carried through with this plan after midnight, breaking into her home that he had unlocked two days prior during a visit, and then lay in wait in the basement for her to fall asleep.

Soon after, her mother was screaming that her daughter had been kidnapped, and she soon spotted Classen and her daughter behind the house, calling 911 immediately, according to the report.

Classen released the girl and then fled in a vehicle, but he encountered a polic check point and was arrested.
