Rosie O’Donnell officially files for divorce

Rosie O’Donnell recently left The View citing troubles in her personal life, and now the actress has officially filed for divorce from her wife Michelle Rounds. Earlier in the month Rosie made a statement to confirm that she had rounds had in fact split back in November. O’Donnell made it clear that her leaving the show would make her split up easier to focus on her family during the challenging time.

Her rep also spoke out on the situation.

“Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first,” they said.

The pair had been married less than three years before deciding to part ways. They met in 2011 and wed in 2012. O’Donnell and Rounds adopted a child together, which added to the four that Rosie already had.

This is the second time that O’Donnell has divorced, after being married to Kelli Carpenter from 2004 to 2007.

O’Donnell formally filed for divorce from Michelle Rounds on Friday Feb.27 at the Manhattan State Supreme Court. The reason for the divorce was cited as an irretrievably broken relationship. The couple will share custody of their daughter Dakota.

Since the separation Rosie seems to have putting as much focus on her kids as possible, taking to Instagram to share sweet photos. She has been quite open with her life despite the difficulties.

“Anyone can go on Instagram and see that Michelle’s not in the house with me, it’s been since Thanksgiving, people are not idiots. I don’t want to lie and fabricate but we also needed some time for both of us to figure it out,” she said.

In a recent interview with Dr. Oz the actress was asked about how she was coping with the breakup.

“I’m doing everything that I can to take care of myself and I think Michelle is doing the same thing,” she said.
