Kelly Osbourne splitting from ‘Fashion Police’ on E! after Zendaya hair drama

Kelly Osbourne is leaving the E! show “Fashion Police,” days after co-host Giuliana Rancic made offensive comments about the hairstyle of Osbourne’s friend, Disney Channel mainstay Zendaya.

On Friday, E! Entertainment claimed that Osbourne is exiting the show to pursue other opportunities. Her publicist did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Sharon Osbourne, Kelly’s mom, supports the move, tweeting: “@Kellyosbourne, I am so proud of you. You can never be bought. You always wear your heart on your sleeve #proudtobeyourmum.”

The Mirror quoted a friend of Kelly’s as saying: “Kelly is a woman of principles, she was upset and horrified that someone would say something like that.

“She is an intelligent, bright woman with principles. Those principles were at the heart of her wanting to leave.”

The trouble started on Monday’s post-Oscar edition of “Fashion Police,” after Rancic commented on Zendaya’s hairstyle on the red carpet. The singer-actress wore her hair in dreadlocks, leading Rancic to suggest that she looked “like she smells like patchouli oil or weed.” The statement went viral and came under severe backlash from the public and Zendaya, who penned an elegant letter in response.

Other famous Black women, such as Kerry Washington, India.Arie and Solange Knowles were also quick to rush to Zendaya’s defense.

Osbourne tweeted Tuesday that she doesn’t condone racism and was seriously reconsidering her role on “Fashion Police.”

Rancic gave an in-person apology on “E! News” the same day.

E! has said the show will air as scheduled on March 30. Network executives have made no decision on Osbourne’s replacement.

“Fashion Police” recently added Kathy Griffin as host to replace the late Joan Rivers.
