Iggy Azalea gets pushed over the social media edge

iggyPop-star Iggy Azalea has signed off her Twitter account for good following down-right rude and inappropriate commentary on her physique. Several paparazzi photos that were recently released were the crux to this social media decision.

The 24-year-old singer was relaxing in Hawaii on vacation with her boyfriend, Los Angeles Laker Nick Young, when the photos were taken. The frustrated star unleashed a series of tweets expressing her exasperation at the body-shaming she endured, according to MSNBC.

Although Azalea has called it quits for the time being from social media, her staff will still be managing her accounts for her.

The apparent viciousness of the remarks she endured via social media were enough to push her over the edge. She notes that some members of the online community are just full of too much hatred and pettiness.

In a sign-off thank you to her fans, Azalea tweeted, “The Internet is the ugliest reflection of mankind there is.”

The star is far from her first public social media eye-catcher. Fellow rappers Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj both poked negative fingers at the “Fancy” rapper recently.

But the worst social media battle the singer has encountered so far was with black rapper Azealia Banks over the singer’s lack of response to protests in the wake of the police-related deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown, both of who are African-American.

Banks accused Azalea of co-opting black culture without appreciating it, a frequent criticism brought against the Australian-born white rapper, Azalea.

Also among the recent cruel intentions towards Azalea were the remarks about her nomination for the prestigious Best Rap Album award at this year’s Grammy’s alongside more traditional rap artists.

Ironically enough, she ended up losing the award to another controversial white rapper, Eminem.
