Lady Gaga and actor Taylor Kinney first met in 2011 on the set of Gaga’s “You & I” music video, and after more than three years of dating and one minor rough patch, the couple is finally ready to take things to the next level. Kinney proposed to the singer on Valentine’s Day with a large heart-shaped diamond ring. It was Gaga, in turn, who would very happily confirm the engagement on Instagram on Monday.

According to Times Herald-Record executive editor Barry Lewis, after Kinney popped the question, he and Gaga celebrated their engagement at Joanne Trattoria, the singer’s family’s restaurant. Gaga then gave fans their first glimpse of her stunning engagement ring by posting a picture of it on Instagram.

“He gave me his heart on Valentine’s Day, and I said YES!” she captioned the photo.

When the couple first met on the “You & I” music video in Nebraska in 2011, Gaga was ironically wearing her mother’s actual wedding gown for the occasion. The two started dating several months later, and while they broke up for a month during the summer of 2012, they have been going strong ever since. Kinney told Us in Apr. 2014 that Gaga “is someone who’s always in your corner, that believes in you and your work, and vice versa.”

“You know, I love what she does and her work and music and charity,” gushed Kinney. “She inspires so many people including myself.”

The actor may have been prompted to finally propose after Gaga told Howard Stern in a recent interview that she would marry him if he asked.

“He is the right guy. How do we know? It’s this feeling,” said Gaga, adding that if she get’s married, “I’ll be hanging out in a pickup truck at a David’s Bridal while my stylist is screaming at me.”
