Bruce Jenner involved in fatal car crash

Bruce Jenner was involved in a car crash on Pacific Coast Highway, just a few miles from his home in Malibu, Calif., Saturday around noon. The collision left five people injured and one person dead, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Alan Nierob, agent for the former Olympic champion and reality TV star, said that Jenner was not injured in the multi-vehicle crash. The agent did not offer any further information on the accident. People reported that he appeared to have no injuries on the scene, but his car was damaged.

The sheriff’s department issued a written statement saying that one passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The injured passengers were transported to a nearby hospital. Officials are investigating the cause of the accident.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians cast member has been in the public eye recently for his decision to undergo a gender transition, so the paparazzi have remained close. However, Sgt. Philip Brooks of the sheriff’s department said there is no evidence that Jenner was attempting to avoid the paparazzi at the time of the accident, despite recent reports.

Jenner was documented at the scene. The photos show Jenner wearing dark glasses and a baseball cap and talking with emergency respondents. He was driving a black Cadillac Escalade, according to Sgt. Brooks, and he was towing a dune buggy.

A white Lexus sedan reportedly hit a Prius that had either slowed down or stopped. Jenner hit the sedan and it drifted into traffic.  A Hummer hit the sedan head on.

The photos show the front of the white sedan crushed, and an unidentified elderly woman died in the car, according to New York Times. Sgt. Jenner’s Escalade suffered damage on its front end, but the Hummer and the white Sedan suffered the most damaged. Brooks stated that Jenner volunteered to be tested for alcohol and drugs.
