Day Care in California shut down after measles discovered

Measles has been discovered at a day care for students’ children at the Santa Monica High School. A baby who was enrolled in the program at the Samohi Infant Toddler Center was found to have measles, and this has led to the closing of the day care.

The baby was less than 12 months old and was not eligible to receive the measles vaccine. The Santa Monica High School is part of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District in California.

The Samohi Infant Toddler Center has announced that it is going to be closed indefinitely. They will not reopen until they receive further instructions from the Los Angeles health department.

Although there are 24 babies who are cared for at the day care, only 14 of them are under quarantine. They will have to remain under quarantine for the next three weeks. Some of the babies are too young to receive the vaccine for measles.

In January, a baseball coach at the same high school had become infected with the measles virus. It is not clear yet if the two measles cases are connected in any way.

The coach is not a staff member of the high school. He did come into contact with around 70 baseball players. All of the baseball players have been vaccinated, but it is not certain if the coach had received the measles vaccine.

The number of measles cases in California continues to rise after it was discovered at Disneyland. There is now more than 90 cases in the state, but it has since spread to 13 other states and Mexico.

The primary cause behind the size of this outbreak is believed to be that many people around Disneyland are unvaccinated against the measles virus. California is one of 19 states that give people the option to reject the virus for various reasons.

Measles is one of the most contagious diseases known. It can be passed from one person to another through sneezing, coughing, or even by touching an object that an infected person touched. It can also be passed through airborne bacteria.
