George R.R. Martin's story 'The Lost Sands' will soon have a movie adaption.
The widespread popularity of the HBO show Game of Thrones has increased sales and demand of all works by George R.R. Martin, the author of the series titled A Song of Ice and Fire, which the hit show is based on. Now, another of Martin’s story series will be turned into a single movie to be titled In the Lost Lands.
Actress Milla Jovovich is rumored to be in the final stages of negotiations to be cast as one of the female leads in the upcoming movie. The movie is already scheduled to begin filming in late 2015 and will be a co-production between German and Canadian film houses. Justin Chatwin, from the Showtime series, Shameless, will also star in the film.
In the Lost Lands will connect the story lines of three female characters from Martin’s tales. Jovovich’s character is named Gray Alys, and is hired by a queen to travel into the Lost Lands in order to learn the skill of shape shifting, not knowing that learning the skill also comes with terrible circumstances.
The second story line centers on a female warrior named Sharra who must fight a dragon that guards the gate between seven worlds so that she can be reunited with her lost lover. During Sharra’s quest she is seduced by the lord of a deserted castle and forgets her purpose, deciding to stay with the lord instead, unaware of his true nature. The last tale is of a barbarian girl that meets a lonely witch who shows her wonders of beauty, only to find the witch has trapped her in a net of lies.
All three plots will be adjusted to fit into one movie. Fans of Martin’s works can expect the movie adaptation of In the Lost Lands to introduce multiple characters who somehow connect, shocking surprises for the characters, as well as the somber tones reminiscent of Game of Thrones.
