Police say a father returned to his home in New York and shot his entire family in the head, killing three generations of women and wounding his 12-year-old daughter, who dialed 911.

Jonathon Walker reportedly told his brother over the phone that what he did, he “cannot come back from,” and police later found him dead from a self-inflicted wound in a car on a quiet street a few miles away, according to an Associated Press report.

Police say that Walker, a 34-year-old security guard, shot his 7-year-old daughter Kayla, his 31-year-old girlfriend Shantai Hale, and Hale’s mother, 62-year-old Viola Warren. Christina Walker, 12, was also shot, but survived the attack and his in stable condition, according to authorities.

Investigators tried to figure out what happened in what relatives said was a surprising attack that had no warning signs.

There had been domestic reports at the house back in 2005 and 2006 for what were described as “nominal matters,” and Walker had been twice arrested for unknown offenses, but there had been no immediate signs of trouble from Walker, family members said according to the AP report.

Walker had even been with the family for a pleasant gather at Christmas, and she had never heard the victims complain about him.

Police believe Walker arrived at the home at around 5:38 a.m. Just a few minutes later, his 12-year-old daughter was on the phone with police to report that he had shot everyone, and Walker was gone by the time officers arrived a few minutes later.

A search eventually turned up his SUV, where they found Walker dead with a .45-caliber gun next to him.
