Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams split after 6 years of marriage

The couple described their divorce as "amicable," and have not yet set a date for when the plan to make it official.

Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams have confirmed that they are filing for divorce after almost six years of marriage, making them one of the longest-standing couples in the music business

A representative of the couple confirmed that the pair had begun proceedings for divorce, which has been described as “amicable,” according to an EntertainmentWise report.

Adams, a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, and Moore, who had a series of chart-topping pop music hits, married in 2009 in Savannah, Georgia after a on-again, off-again romance.

After six years, the couple decided to call it quits and are asking for privacy, according to the rep in a joint statement. There is not yet a set date for the separation.

Moore, who is best known for her 1999 hit “Candy” before beginning an acting career in films such as “Saved” and “A Walk to Remember,” is asking for spousal support from Adams. Adams, who is 40, recently released a self-titled seventh studio album, which the duo collaborated on with Moore singing the background vocals.

The couple had kept their lives very private, especially with regards to the marriage, as they would rarely be seen in public together.

The rumors began to fly when a picture of Mandy Moore surfaced without her wedding ring on.

Moore has dated other celebrities before Adams, including tennis star Andy Roddick, Adam Goldstein, and DJ AM.

The two did not have any children together, but had nine pets.
