Rajon Rondo shines in return to Boston

Rajon Rondo had a lot of good times while he was a member of the Boston Celtics. Numerous playoff runs, four All-Star game appearances, and ultimately, an NBA Championship. But thanks to a trade in the middle of December, he is no longer a member of the Celtics. Instead, he is now a member of the Dallas Mavericks. On Friday night, Rondo made his first return to Boston as a member of another team, and he shined in front of the Boston crowd like he had done so many times for the first eight and a half years of his career.

Rondo scored a season-high 29 points in a 119-101 Mavericks’ win over the Boston Celtics. He led a balanced Mavericks’ attack against a Celtics team that is clearly in a rebuilding phase now that they are without Rondo. To show just what kind of night it was for Rondo, he hit a career-high five three-point field goals on just seven attempts, which is 71%. On the season, Rondo is shooting just 27% from deep, and he is just a 25% shooter from behind the three-point line for his career. Clearly, it was a special night for the veteran point guard.

Before having arguably his best game of the season, Rondo was greeted with a standing ovation from the Boston crowd. A video montage of some of Rondo’s greatest moments was shown to the crowd, and he greeted the crowd with a wave once he hit the court.

Rondo’s performance on this night is just another memorable one that Boston fans can add to their memory banks. Only this time, it wasn’t done in a green and white uniform.
