Joseph Gordon-Levitt weds girlfriend in private ceremony — before Christmas!

Actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt wed his girlfriend, Tasha McCauley, during a private ceremony, confirms the actor’s publicist to USA Today.

The actor-director married McCauley, the CEO of a robotics company, on Saturday, Dec. 20, at their home, according to Erica Gray, his publicist.

Gordon-Levitt rose to fame as a child actor on the television show “Third Rock from the Sun,” and has since transitioned into from independents to big blockbuster films, such as Dark Knight Rises and Looper. He’s also moved behind the camera, writing and directing 2013’s Don Jon, a film in which Gordon-Levitt also portrayed the title character. Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore also starred.

Next up for Gordon-Levitt, portraying whistle-blower Edward Snowden in a new film by Oliver Stone. The film is set for a 2016 release date.

It is unclear how long the Gordon-Levitt and McCauley have been dating, as Gordon-Levitt, 33, remains private about his personal life. He did, however, reveal in a September 2013 interview with Howard Stern that he was seeing someone. He described this person as “not in show business.”

McCauley is the co-founder and acting CEO of Fellow Robots, a retail robotics company based at the NASA Research Park in Mountain View, Calif. According to her Twitter account, the striking brunette is based in Los Angeles.

There are no details about what the bride wore, who was in attendance, or where the wedding cake came from. And the private couple wouldn’t want it any other way.

“I have a girlfriend but I tend not to really like to talk about it in public,” said Gordon-Levitt to People Magazine in 2013. “The girl that I’m with, she really doesn’t want to be a part of that.”

While Gordon-Levitt never mentions his relationship with his girlfriend specifically, he has spoken publicly about relationships, and how he values commitment.

“I think that I could partner up with somebody — I don’t know who that somebody is — I could partner up with a woman and commit to we’re going to raise a family and that’s a project we’re going to commit to for 20-something years,” said Gordon-Levitt, in the same interview with Stern. “I like to not be too committed to any one future that’s really far away, necessarily, unless there’s a reason, which is why I’m saying if you’re gonna raise a family…I can make that commitment.”

Gordon-Levitt proved these sentiments true on Dec. 20, when he wed robotics company CEO McCauley in a private ceremony in their shared California home.
