Actor Christian Bale talks Batman, Terminator and Exodus

Christian Bale will be playing the role of Moses in this month’s biblical epic, 'Exodus: Gods and Kings.'

With his new movie Exodus: Gods and Kings hitting theaters later this month, actor Christian Bale has been hitting the media circuit. During his talks he has broached subjects ranging from his thoughts on the upcoming Terminator reboot to his defense of Moses.

In recent years, Christian Bale has starred in several high profile films that will be getting reboots next year with Terminator Genisys and Batman V Superman. When it comes to the latter, some media outlets have been commenting on the ending to 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises, wondering if it was all meant to be a dream. This comes from the fact that during Knight Rises, Alfred told Bruce Wayne that he had a dream of the billionaire retiring as Batman, a plot point which becomes a reality at the end of the film.

When broached about his thoughts about the ending of the film, Bale stated that of course the ending to any film is left to a viewer’s interpretation but in his opinion, he believes that the film was all real. Bale also stated that he would not be making an appearance in the upcoming Batman V Superman.

Bale also had thoughts on next year’s reboot of the popular Terminator series, a film titled Terminator Genisys, which will once again bring in one-time governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, as the titular machine. Fans will recall that Christian Bale starred as John Connor in the 2009 film, Terminator Salvation, a film that had less than desirable financial returns.

When asked about his thoughts on next year’s reboot, Bale was optimistic and gave his well wishes. He stated that he knew that his Terminator film “did not work” but he hopes for only the best for the upcoming film. In addition to the poor reception of Terminator Salvation, Bale also had issues with that film’s director, McG, who Bale claims to never want to work for again.

Finally, Christian Bale will be playing the role of Moses in this month’s biblical epic, Exodus: Gods and Kings. Lately, the film has come under fire due to the fact that Caucasian actors were hired to play the main roles, characters that are supposed to be Egyptian.

Both Bale and the film’s director, Ridley Scott came to the defense of their casting choices, stating that the fact that big name actors were chosen instead of Egyptian actors is strictly business. He noted that film investors feel more comfortable with big name actors and without those investors, there would be no movie.

Bale has also made comments alluding to the idea that some people could consider his character, Moses, to be a terrorist, stating more or less, that one man’s fighter of freedom is the next man’s terrorist. He also stated that he watched parodies, The Life of Brian and History of the World, Part One in preparation for his role.

As for his future roles, Bale will be appearing in two Terrence Malick films in 2015 and will have a starring role in Jungle Book: Origins, due out in 2016.
