Rapper Waka Flocka Flame arrested for carrying loaded gun at airport

The rapper was charged with Carrying a Weapon in a Prohibited Place and transported to the Clayton County Jail.

According to a report from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, rapper Waka Flocka Flame was taken into custody on Friday after authorities say they discovered a loaded gun in his carry-on bag at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

The rapper, who didn’t have a permit for the weapon, was charged with Carrying a Weapon in a Prohibited Place and transported to the Clayton County Jail.

Debra Antney, Waka’s spokeswoman, told TMZ that the rapper picked up the wrong bag on his way to the airport. He meant to grab his bag, but accidentally picked up his fiance’s bag.

According to MTV, the TSA may have posted a photo of Waka’s piece on the agency’s Instagram account. Although the photo doesn’t identify the owner of the gun, it was posted on the same day that Waka, whose real name is Juaquin Malphurs, was arrested.

“#TSACatch – This 5.7X28mm pistol was discovered in a carry-on bag today at the #Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson (#ATL) International Airport,” a description of the photo reads. “It was loaded with 29 rounds plus one in the chamber. This could have been legally packed in checked baggage. Learn more about traveling with firearms at TSA.gov.”
