The video is linked to a UNICEF campaign known as "Force for Change."
On Monday, StarWars.com posted a new video showing off a Star Wars: Episode VII X-wing fighter.
“We are so grateful for the support that the fans from over 119 countries have shown for Force for Change,” director J.J. Abrams said in a statement that accompanied the video. “As we close this final week, we’ve added an additional prize that allows the fans the opportunity to see the movie early as a thank you for supporting such a great cause as UNICEF’s innovative, lifesaving work for children.”
According to the Daily Beast, the video is linked to a UNICEF campaign known as “Force for Change.” The idea behind the campaign is that contributors receive t-shirts, preview screenings and other fantastic prizes in exchange for their money.
In addition to Abrams’ message about UNICEF, the short video offers Star Wars fans a closer look at the spacecraft made famous by Luke Skywalker. During the video, a pilot wearing the white helmet and orange suit climbs into the cockpit of the X-wing fighter.
