Singer Rihanna took to Twitter to respond to recent critical comments made by TLC’s Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, according to US Weekly.

During a Friday, June 6 appearance on Australia’s morning program Sunrise, T-Boz and Chilli took a moment to comment on the see-through, barely-there dress that Rihanna wore to the Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards on June 2 in New York City.

“Every time I see you, you don’t have to be naked,” noted T-Boz. “It’s hard for us to say anything because any time we do, they say ‘Oh TLC must be jealous,’ but I call a spade a spade.”

The two sat down for an interview in Sydney to promote their current national tour of the land down under.

“We became the biggest selling girl group of all time with our clothes on and that says a lot,” she added.

TLC were indeed one of the biggest acts to achieve success in the ’90s. The former trio’s second album CrazySexyCool sold more than 11 million albums to become one of the first records to be certified diamond. In addition, the band earned five Grammy Awards, including multiple awards in the best R&B album category. Sadly, member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes died in an automobile accident in 2002.

T-Boz’s criticism of Rihanna continued in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald. “At the end of the day the music speaks for itself, you don’t have to take your clothes off if your music is great.”

“We didn’t do those things,” added the “No Scrub” singer, “and the attention you get when you do that is not the kind of attention I would ever want.”

Rihanna heard their comments and responded.

Late Thursday evening, Rihanna tweeted, “When there’s no changing the fact that I’m me, and they’re well…they’re them.” 

The tweet is accompanied by an image of the singer sticking her tongue out.

Rihanna also changed her Twitter wallpaper to an image of TLC posing topless, their breasts covered with their hands.
