Jonah Hill addresses homophobic slur on 'The Tonight Show' [VIDEO]

Hill was caught on camera using the "f" word over the weekend.

Jonah Hill has apologized for his use of a derogatory word. In a video released by TMZ on Tuesday morning, Hill is seen being followed by a paparazzo around L.A. When the photographer begins to leave, Hill tells him to “suck my d***, you f*****!”

Hill, a two-time Oscar nominee with a previously positive reputation for LGBTQ rights, quickly responded to the clip’s release. As reported by CNN, he initially spoke to the Howard Stern show to accept responsibility and apologize, following up that appearance with an even more contrite one on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night. Hill clarified that he had not meant to be intentionally homophobic but admitted, “Words have weight and meaning, and the word I chose was grotesque…No one deserves to say or hear words like that.”

Explaining that the paparazzo had been verbally “attacking” his family, Hill still accepted responsibility for his actions. He addressed his fans, telling them, “If someone says something that hurts you, or angers you, use me as an example of what not to do, and don’t respond with hatred or anger. Because you’re just adding more ugliness to the world.”

Hill’s new film, 22 Jump Street, opens on June 13.
