Chelsea Lately is officially over. As reported by CNN, E! announced on Wednesday that Chelsea Handler’s talk show will end after seven years, with its final air date on August 26.

The news comes less than three months after Handler’s manager Irving Azaroff told the Hollywood Reporter that “Chelsea intends to leave when her contract expires. She hired me to figure out her life after E!.” Handler herself implied a change was in the works, telling Howard Stern on March 5 that E! “was a sad, sad place to live.” At the time, E! had no comment.

Hard feelings seemed pushed aside yesterday, however, with Handler stating, “I am more surprised than anyone that I was able to hold down a job for seven years, and it was a fantastic seven years.” E! promised to honor her departure with a month-long celebration of special guests and surprise episodes.

A best-selling author and stand up comedienne, Handler is the lone female talk show host on late night television. Her name has been mentioned in consideration to take over the Late Late Show when Craig Ferguson leaves in December but CBS has yet to comment on the rumors.
