Wisconsin man gets restraining order against his daughter's bully

In his talks with NBC, the father said that the Kenosha Unified School District wasn't doing enough to protect his daughter or to eliminate the threats of bullying in her class.

A father in Wisconsin is taking a staunch stand against bullying after his daughter came home complaining of serious threats she had received from a fellow student.

According to an article published by NBC News, the father-daughter pairing are residents of Kenosha, Wisconsin and the girl is just five years old and in kindergarten. The father, Brian Metzger, became concerned after his daughter was abused, both verbally and physically, by a boy in her kindergarten class, who allegedly threw rocks and sand at her and kicked in the face. When his daughter came from school claiming that the boy in question had said, “I want to slit your throat and watch you bleed,” Metzger decided to do something about it.

In his talks with NBC, Metzger said that the Kenosha Unified School District wasn’t doing enough to protect his daughter or to eliminate the threats of bullying in her class. Metzger wanted the boy removed from his daughter’s classroom and punished for his violent and quickly escalation remarks and actions. District spokesperson Tanya Ruder defended the school’s decision to let things lie, stating that there is not really a policy for when a student should be removed from his or her classroom.

Rather than let the school ignore his daughter’s bullying, Metzger went out and secured a restraining order against the kindergarten menace, showing up at the school on Wednesday and giving them a legal obligation to remove the boy from the class. In Metzger’s estimation, the school’s policies to prevent bullying and keep kids safe are insufficient, and he wants the bully boy gone from the institution altogether. What happens next will be decided at a hearing later this week.
