Setiawan allegedly sprayed anti-Semitic messages on 15 vehicles and four buildings near the Bnos Zion synagogue and school.
An ex-NYPD police officer was busted Sunday for spraying anti-Semitic graffiti in Brooklyn, according to a report from The Associated Press.
Michael Setiawan faces charges of criminal mischief and aggravated harassment as hate crimes, The AP notes.
Setiawan allegedly sprayed anti-Semitic messages on 15 vehicles and four buildings near the Bnos Zion synagogue and school. He was caught on video by a surveillance camera.
Police would not release the specific wording of the anti-Semitic messages, but New York City Councilman David Greenfield, D-Brooklyn, told CNN that “this was an extremely brazen and hateful act.”
According to The New York Times, Setiawan was a police officer for two years before resigning in 2007. The newspaper notes that the reason he resigned is not known at this time. He has, however, been arrested six time since leaving the NYPD.
