Cleveland kidnap victim 'forgives' Ariel Castro

Michelle Knight now goes by Lillian Rose Lee.

Michelle Knight, one of three women held captive in a Cleveland house before escaping nearly a year ago, says she “forgives” her kidnapper, Ariel Castro.

“If I did something wrong, even if it was a small thing, I would want somebody to forgive me, so I can forgive him for what he done wrong because that’s the way of life,” Michelle Knight said in an interview on NBC’s Today show Monday.

Knight, who now goes by Lillian Rose Lee, also told NBC that doesn’t have much of a relationship with the other victims, Gina DeJesus and Amanda Berry.

“Right now, we’re all healing in our own way. Sometimes relationships, including friendships, don’t last that long,” Knight said.

Knight told Anderson Cooper Monday night that Castro lured her to his house with the promise of puppies. At the time, she wanted to get one for her son because his dog has died.

Castro committed suicide in his jail cell in September 2013. He had been convicted of kidnapping and raping three women, as well as murder. For his crimes, Castro had been sentenced to life in prison plus 1,000 years.
