Apple is likely to announce updates to OS X and iOS 8 at WWDC 2014 in June, not Apple TV updates or iWatch.

Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference will take place June 2 through June 6 in San Francisco, but, to the chagrin of many, the tech giant is not expected to announce any new hardware. Redesigned Apple TV and Apple iWatch may not be unveiled until later this year.

Instead, Re/code reports Apple will use the occasion of WWDC 2014 to roll out Mac OS 10.10, the iOS 8 mobile operating system and a health app. 9To5mac describes 10.10 design will include “similar toggle designs to iOS 7, sharper window corners, more defined icons across the system, and more white space than the current version.”

Apple in recent years has announced new hardware at WWDC, which has been typically associated with software updates or launches. Apple launched the Macbook Pro with Retina display in 2012 and Macbook Air in 2013 at WWDC, The Next Digit reported.

Apple is gearing up to release OS X 10.10, codenamed “Syrah” within the company, 9to5Mac reported citing sources with knowledge of the company’s plans. The operating system, which will be a successor to OS X Mavericks, is expected to be called Yosemite – after the U.S. national park. 9to5Mac reported Apple has been acquiring trademarks on “California landmarks such as Yosemite, Mammoth, and Diablo,” which could be the tech company’s future operating system names.

The Next Digit also reports that a new version of Apple TV is planned for a third quarter release and among new features are “gaming support, App Store integration, iOS 7 controller integration.” Additional content partnerships are also expected, but will not be announced at WWDC 2014. Neither will the Apple iWatch, which the website speculates may be announced at the same time as the next iPhone, which is likely to happen in August or September.
