Report: Gunman kills three, wounds four in Arkansas shootings

All of the victims and the suspect are Hispanic.

According to a report from The Associated Press, a gunman killed three people in Jonesboro, Arkansas, on Saturday.

Citing police, the report notes that the gunman shot six people at an Arkansas home, killing two and injuring four others. He then killed an employee at a nearby business.

The gunman was later found dead of a gunshot wound, but police have yet to determine whether the wound was self-inflicted.

Speaking at a news conference on Saturday night, Jonesboro Police Department Sgt. Doug Formon said that police are investigating reports about a second vehicle, but are confident that the man found dead in the driver’s seat of car parked on a nearby road is the shooter.

KAIT-TV notes that all of the victims and the suspect are Hispanic.

According to the Jonesboro Police Department’s Annual Report 2013, the city’s crime rate has remained “relatively steady” since 2005. The report informs that the FBI defines several crimes as Part I crimes: 1) Violent crimes: Murder/homicide, rape, aggravated assault and robbery and 2) Property crimes: Larceny/theft, motor vehicle theft, burglary/breaking and entering and arson. Over the last nine years, with the exception of forcible rape and arson, the Jonesboro Police Department has reported significant decreases in categories which fall under Part I crimes.
