After the pop star was arrested early yesterday for DUI and drag racing, gossip blogs waited with baited breath for the Holy Grail of paparazzi-ism: The Justin Bieber mug shot. As it happens, the photo was released at about the same time Bieber was, and the results are amusing. In the head-on version of the Bieber mug shot, the star looks pleasant, even happy. In the profile version, Bieber looks more pensive. Perhaps the consequences of his actions are somewhere off to his left.

Bieber was arrested at around 4 a.m. yesterday morning, after being pulled over for drag racing and then failing a field sobriety test. Bieber, 19, is not of legal age for consuming alcohol in the state of Florida. Florida has a “zero tolerance” policy for underage drinking and driving, meaning any BAC of .02 or higher would render him eligible for a DUI. Bieber reportedly blew a .04.

For a first DUI offense, there is no minimum sentence and a maximum of six months, a fine of $250 to $500, and 50 hours of community service. For anyone under 21, there is an automatic six-month license suspension. The drag racing charges could net Bieber up to six months in jail, a fine up to $1,000 and an automatic license suspension of six months, if convicted. His license was not current at the time of his arrest.
