Former self-described ‘chubby chef’ Rocco DiSpirito reveals ‘Pound A Day Diet’

According to CNN, celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito was once a self-described “chubby chef with a crooked spine and flat feet,” but after a trip to the doctor opened his eyes to the unhealthy state that his body was in, Rocco lost 40 pounds and successfully completed an Ironman race.

Now, DiSpirito is promoting a new book, “The Pound A Day Diet: Lose up to 5 pounds in 5 days by eating the foods you love.” Not only is it from a chef’s perspective, but it is designed around the idea of quick weight loss, which is attractive to many first-time and repeat dieters.

American Live Wire reports that there are two, somewhat simple, phases to DiSpirito’s diet. During phase one, you are limited to 850 calories during the weekdays, and 1,200 calories on the weekends. Phase one is 28 days. During phase two, you are allowed to consume more, but you eat less meat and more fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

KMBZ reports that DiSpirito is confident that his Pound A Day Diet is safe, but ABC News’ Dr. Jennifer Ashton notes that quick weight loss diets can be linked to risks like electrolyte abnormalities and other medical problems.
