It’s true: Paul Walker is dead at age 40

The actor is reportedly dead at the age of 40.

The actor is dead at the age of 40. Walker, best known for his role as Brian O’Conner in the popular “Fast & Furious” movies, died after a car accident in Southern California Saturday.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said that two people were killed in the accident, which took place at approximately 3:30 p.m. local time in Santa Clarita, California. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim has not been identified.  The second victim is thought to be a friend of the actor.

A seventh FF film is scheduled for release in 2014.

On his verified Twitter account, Walker described himself as “outdoorsman, ocean addict, adrenaline junkie … and I do some acting on the side.”

This is of the official statement released on Walker’s Facebook page:

“It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences. –#TeamPW

This statement was posted earlier in the evening:
