Chris Brown charged with misdemeanor hit-and-run

Chris Brown is charged.

Chris Brown is denying that he was involved in a hit-and-run last month and he reportedly has the pictures to prove it.

The Los Angeles Times reports that the rapper was charged Tuesday with a misdemeanor hit-and-run, in addition to driving without a valid license relating to a minor car accident that occurred on May 21.

The 24-year-old Grammy winner was driving in Los Angeles in his Range Rover when he allegedly rear-ended another vehicle, causing a medium amount of damage. Following the incident, Brown reportedly couldn’t provide a valid driver’s license because he didn’t have one on him. He also left the scene without giving his insurance information to the other driver, however, some reports claim that he did give information but it was false.

The recording artist himself took to Twitter to defend himself.

He tweeted, “It’s not a hit and run if u get out the car, exchange information (who has NO DAMAGE to either cars). This is really ridiculous.”

He went on to talk about how he did the right thing and accused the other driver of making things up.

In a series of tweets he wrote, “I have a valid drivers license and I gave the woman the right info. She saw cameras and wanted to make a scene. She contacted the cops thinking of a payday from Chris Brown when I followed the proper procedures. My lawyers will be contacting you. I will not stand for this bullying and yellow journalism!”

Besides proclaiming his innocence through words, Brown also changed his Twitter photo to a picture of himself with the women driver outside of her car, as well as making his page’s background picture a closeup of the car’s back bumper.

Regarding these photos, he tweeted, “My profile pic is the pic I took of the persons car after ‘the hit and run’. NO damage. Just a dirty car.once again, I gotta clear my name.”

If Brown is convicted of either of the two charges, he could face up to six months in jail for each misdemeanor offense. He is already on probation for assaulting Rihanna back in 2009. It is unclear whether or not the alleged hit-and-run will be considered a violation of the probation terms, and thus cause Brown to face additional time behind bars, possibly up to four years in prison.

This is not the only legal trouble Brown is facing. A woman by the name of Deanna Gines has accused the singer of pushing her while inside a nightclub on Saturday night, causing her to fall and injure her knee. However, both a spokesperson for Brown and the owner of the nightclub have denied these allegations, according to CNN. Sources at the club confirmed to TMZ that Gines did hurt herself, however, it was her own fault as she had too much to drink and fell down the stairs while leaving the club.
