Jackson is reportedly suffering from depression.

While Paris Jackson’s suicide attempt on Wednesday may have partially resulted from her not being allowed to go to an upcoming Marilyn Manson concert, the incident is reportedly rooted from a much deeper issue.

People magazine reports that the 15-year-old daughter of the late pop icon Michael Jackson was rushed to the hospital every Wednesday morning after cutting her wrists with a kitchen knife and taking as many as 20 ibuprofen tablets. Although Paris’ legal co-guardian Katherine Jackson’s attorney says she “is physically fine and getting appropriate medical attention,” a source close to the Jackson family says she is suffering from depression

“Paris has been very, very depressed for a while,” the source told People. “She’s been throwing fits and tantrums, kicking and screaming and cutting herself. She misses her father greatly. She was the center of Michael’s world and it’s all different now. She says that she is lonely and that she doesn’t feel loved.”

The source additionally said Paris’ breaking point was probably when she was told that she couldn’t attend a concert featuring Mason, who is performing at the Gibson Amphitheater with Alice Cooper on Thursday.

The source added, “Some of this is normal teenager things, hormonal changes. But now it’s serious. This is a cry for help.”

A second source expressed the same sentiments telling the magazine that Paris “is very unhappy and alone” and has recently reconnected with her mother Debbie Rowe because “she wants a family, she’s missed her dad.”

Prior to her suicide attempt, Paris seems to have been providing her Twitter followers with a glimpse into how she’s feeling, tweeting things like “The day is halfway over I need to get out of bed ugh,” and “every time i try to distract myself it never works and I end up making the same mistake i make every single night …” and on the day of the attempt a quote from a Beatles song, “Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away now it looks as though they’re here to stay.”

This month is probably particularly hard for Paris as the fourth anniversary of her father’s death is on June 25. In 2009, Michael Jackson died from an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol in his Los Angeles home.

At this time members of the Jackson family, including La Toya, Tito, Jackie and Marlon, are requesting others to respect their privacy but are thankful for the concern and support for Paris, according to Entertainment Tonight.
