Brad Pitt: I have ‘few friends’ but couldn’t be happier

Pitt says he has a few friends, but things are going well.

Brad Pitt may have it all–a beautiful fiancée, six wonderful children and a lengthy acting career that doesn’t show any signs of stopping. However, there’s one thing that he is lacking: tons of friends.

Despite this fact, the Los Angeles Times reports that the 49-year-old movie star doesn’t seem to mind.

“I have a handful of close friends and I have my family and I haven’t known life to be any happier,” he tells Esquire magazine in its upcoming June/July issue.

Pitt talks about how he has always wanted a large family and revels in all the drama that may or may not come as a result.

“I always thought that if I wanted to do a family, I wanted to do it big,” he said in the interview with Esquire, set to hit newsstands on May 31. “I wanted there to be chaos in the house. … There’s constant chatter in our house, whether it’s giggling or screaming or crying or banging. I love it. I love it. I love it. I hate it when they’re gone. I hate it. Maybe it’s nice to be in a hotel room for a day — ‘Oh, nice, I can finally read a paper.’ But then, by the next day, I miss that cacophony, all that life.”

While he is quite the family man nowadays, it hasn’t always been that way. Years ago, he was a drug user and allowed numerous opportunities to slip away, including getting his college degree.

“I’d get so far and then want to do something else,” he said. “I mean, I’m two credits short of graduating college. Two credits. All I had to do was write a paper. What kind of guy is that? That guy scares me –- the guy who always leaves a little on his plate.”

Pitt said he thought he did too make damage to himself by taking drugs and “was a bit of a drifter.” But just one decade ago, he said he had an epiphany to make “a conscious change” to get his act together and not allow himself to miss out on any future opportunities.

Presently, Pitt is gearing up for the release his new movie “War World Z,” in which he plays a United Nations employee trying to stop zombies from taking over the world. The film will hit theaters next month. Pitt will also continue to make his family a priority, now even more so in the aftermath of Jolie’s preventive double mastectomy.
