Lady Gaga unleashes the monster on former assistant, who claims she was forced to share bed

Lady Gaga has unleashed the monster on her former assistant, Jennifer O'Neill.

Lady Gaga has always had a flair for the dramatic both on stage and in her music, and now she is bringing that same passion to the courtroom in a legal battle with former aide Jennifer O’Neill.

O’Neill is seeking $393,000 and damages for 7,168 hours of overtime the assistant says claims she is owed, working between 2009 and 2011 for the pop star. Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, says in her deposition that the two originally agreed to a $75,000 salary for an 8 hour per day job, and doesn’t owe O’Neill a dime.

O’Neill has asserted that she was essentially on call 24 hours a day, and even induced to sleep in the same bed as the singer. When asked by the attorneys whether sleeping in Gaga’s bed was ‘required’ of her, O’Neill said, “I felt it was. Unlike anybody else on that tour, I did not have my own hotel room. I was not asked if I wanted my own hotel room.” There are no indications that the two shared a sexual or romantic relationship of any kind.

According to Lady Gaga, O’Neill, “knew exactly what she was getting into, and she knew there was no overtime, and I never paid her overtime the first time I hired her, so why would she be paid overtime the second time?” according to the Los Angeles Times.

“She’s just — she thinks she’s just like the queen of the universe,” Gaga continued. “And, you know what, she didn’t want to be a slave to one, because in my work and what I do, I’m the queen of the universe every day.”

The two may have been close at one point, but Gaga describes how a falling out developed after O’Neill refused to give up one of the two available beds on the singer’s private plan after a night of partying.

“I said, ‘Jennifer, this is really inappropriate in front of [photographer] Terry Richardson,’ and she was like, ‘Don’t I get some sort of seniority because I’ve been here longer and I’m your friend?'” said Gaga.

“I remember those words as clear as day, because when your best friend looks you in the eye and says, ‘Why can’t I have that seat on your private plane, I’m your friend,’ the first thing I thought was ‘You’re not my … friend. You are not my … friend.”

The celebrity also called O’Neill a “disgusting human being”, under oath, for “wearing my clothes, asking YSL [Yves Saint Laurent] to send her free shoes without my permission, using my YSL discount without my permission.”

Afterwards, Gaga walked right up to O’Neill in the courtroom and said, “This whole case is bulls***, and you know it.”

Whatever the outcome of the case may be, if Gaga loses it will likely wound her pride much more than her bank account. The singer has an estimated net worth of $150 million, earning more than $90 million from record sales, tours, endorsements, and merchandise in 2011 alone. This makes a paltry $400,000 a drop in the pond, but obviously the star is not going to go down without a fight.

In spite of a privileged upbringing on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, Gaga has said that her parents “both came from lower-class families, so we’ve worked for everything—my mother worked eight to eight out of the house, in telecommunications, and so did my father.” This might help to explain her reluctance to part with her hard-earned money.

As she said in the deposition, “I do six shows a week, and I make a lot of money. I work, I work 24 hours a day.” A strong work ethic and considerable talent have helped the singer to sell over 23 million albums and 64 million singles worldwide. Gaga has more than just money to show for her accomplishments- earning five Grammy Awards and 13 MTV Video Music Awards, along with an army of 33,717,026 Twitter followers– over one tenth of the total population of the United States.

Gaga’s so-called “Little Monsters” have proven to be a loyal fan base in the past, so Ms. O’Neill just might want to watch her steps back from the courtroom after the tongue lashing she recently received from the infuriated pop star.
