Perez Hilton slammed with gay slur; the other f-word found on Twitter one million times per month

Hilton gets dissed.

Rapper Azealia Amanda Banks tried to clarify a gay slur aimed at Perez Hilton shortly after calling the celebrity blogger a “faggot.”

According to On Top Magazine, the entire incident started when rapper Angel Haze contested Bank’s belief that New Yorkers are people that have lived their entire lives in the city. When Hilton took Haze’s point of view, things quickly got ugly.

Here is a smattering of their tweets, as provided by On Top Magazine.

“@PerezHilton does your butthole whistle?” Banks asked. “Like is your butthole so stretched and raggedy the air whistles when you move?”

At first, Hilton hit back with a few softballs.

“@AZEALIABANKS Some of your music is cute, but your attention-seeking ways are pathetic and hurtful,” Hilton tweeted. “You drag while others choose to uplift!”

“@PerezHilton you need to quit it,” Banks responded.

Then things got strange.

“@AZEALIABANKS Or what, boo?” Hilton challenged. “I’m a drop a diss track about you right after I poo! Oops, just shat myself with my gigantic hole! Feels good.”

“@PerezHilton omg u should just kill yourself … Like for real,” Banks wrote.

Then, she used the other f-word.

“@perezhilton lol what a messy faggot you are.”

Feeling like she needed to defend herself for using a gay slur, Banks tried to explained her use of the f-word.

“A faggot is not a homosexual male. A faggot is any male who acts like a female. There’s a BIG difference.”

Regardless of her definition, the word is offensive to most.

“My most sincere apologies to anyone who was indirectly offended by my foul language,” the rapper tweeted. “Not sorry for Perez tho. Lol.”

Wanting to justify her side of the Twitter feud a little more, Banks continued to fire off tweets.

“Really not as moved by this f word thing as u all want me to be. As a bisexual person I knew what I meant when I used that word.”

According to a study conducted by The Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services (iSMSS) at the University of Alberta, the word “faggot” can be found on Twitter nearly one million times per month.

“We never imagined the scale of casual homophobia that actually exists on social media,” said Dr. Kristopher Wells, Associate Director for iSMSS, according to Think Progress. “The use of homophobic language remains one of the few socially acceptable forms of discrimination in our society and make no mistake, leads to isolation, bullying, beatings, and tragically youth suicide. […] Our use of casual homophobia must end. We are all responsible to put a stop to it. The lives of our youth, and the humanity of our society depends upon it.”

As Vibe notes, Hilton is receiving a heaping of support from the gay community.
