Charlie Sheen on homophobic slur: ‘I meant to say maggot but I have a lisp’

Charlie Sheen drops a homophobic slur during the grand opening of his bar in Cabo San Lucas.

Actor Charlie Sheen recently apologized for a homophobic slur he made last Friday during the grand opening of his bar at the El Ganzo Hotel in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. “I meant no ill will and intended to hurt no one and I apologize if I offended anyone,” the actor told TMZ in a statement. “I meant to say maggot but I have a lisp.”

According to the website, Sheen was introducing several musical acts, including “Guns and Roses” guitarist Slash, when he yelled: “How we doing? […] Lying bunch of f**got a**holes, how we doing?”

The event was also reportedly attended by Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Dr. Robert Huizenga from “The Biggest Loser.”

According to E!, video of Sheen making this offensive statement surfaced online shortly after the event.

Unfortunately for Sheen, nothing you ever do online can be permanently deleted.

“From Boyle Heights 2 Mayor of LA..! @hotelganzo 2 party at SheenZ..! Antonio Villaraigosa knows how to party,” tweeted Sheen early Saturday before E! reports that the actor deleted it.

Of course, this is not the first and probably not the last time that Sheen will be in the news because of controversial behavior.

Hollywood’s infamous bad boy was fired from CBS’s “Two and a Half Men” in 2011 after his “statements, conduct and condition prevented him from performing his essential duties” as an actor on the show. Ashton Kutcher replaced Sheen on the show.

To help him through this tough period in his life, Sheen had several “goddesses” keep him company.

“It’s perfect. It’s awesome. Every day is just filled with just wins. All we do is put wins in the record books,” Sheen said during an interview with ABC’s “20/20” before being fired. “We win so radically in our underwear before our first cup of coffee, it’s scary. People say it’s lonely at the top, but I sure like the view.”

Sheen’s “goddesses” were Natalie Kenly, a graphic designer and Rachel Oberlin, a porn star.

“You’ve read about the goddesses, come on. They’re an international sensation. These are my girlfriends. These are the women that I love that have completed the three parts of my heart,” Sheen said.

In 2010, Sheen was involved in an incident in which the “Two and a Half Men” star allegedly trashed his hotel room at The Plaza Hotel.

Sheen’s homophobic slur appears to be a new low for the actor. Here’s to hoping that the actor has a much better, and less controversial, 2013.
