Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott is pregnant. The singer tweeted the news via her Twitter handle, @HillaryScottLA, on Friday.
"Chris & I are excited to announce that our Christmas gift has arrived a little early this year! We are having a BABY! We feel so blessed!!!" Ms. Scott tweeted, adding later Friday night, "Arrived in Vegas, & so overwhelmed by the outpouring of love about our news! Now some shut eye...this growing a baby thing makes ya sleepy!"
According to The Associated Press, a spokeswoman for the couple confirmed the pregnancy but said that no other details were available at this time.
The AP adds that this will be the first baby for the Lady Antebellum star and her husband, Love and Theft lead drummer Chris Tyrrell. It also should be noted that this will be the group's first baby. The couple met in 2010 and were married January 7 in upstate New York.
"Everything is brighter. Everything has a deeper meaning," she gushed to last December's Redbook magazine about her husband. "I've found a guy who truly embraces me for who I am and appreciates the things that I don't necessarily love about myself."
Ms. Scott told USA TODAY that her Christmas gift came early this year. She and her sister typically open a gift on Christmas Eve as part of a yearly tradition.
"We always open one present, and it's always pajamas," Ms. Scott said. "We both open it up, and we both run as fast as we can into my parents' room and we change into our pajamas, and those are the ones we sleep in on Christmas Eve.
Lady Antebellum, which also includes band members Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, is a seven-time Grammy award winning trio that has sold millions of records. According to a Taste of Country, Lady Antebellum had one of the top-selling albums of 2011. The group's "Own the Night" album landed at No. 10 on the 2011 Music Industry Report's top-selling albums of the year list.
Ms. Scott was headed to Las Vegas to attend Monday's American Country Awards.
Ms. Scott's pregnancy announcement isn't the only celebrity baby news to make headlines this week. Patriots QB Tom Brady and Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen welcomed a baby girl, named Vivian Lake, on Wednesday.
