Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his wife, Ann Romney, like the "Twilight" series. Governor Romney and Ann reportedly attended a screening of "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" last weekend.
A TMZ source spotted Mr. Romney and Ann in Del Mar, CA on Saturday night. The TMZ source said that the couple was also joined by two young men.
After watching "Twilight," the Bain Capital co-founder and Ann ate at a pizza restaurant across the street. According to TMZ, the couple was extremely friendly to everyone.
"Little late to try to be a man of the people," TMZ noted.
During a 2011 interview on NBC's "Today" show, the former Massachusetts governor first admitted that he was a fan of the "Twilight" series.
"I like silly stuff too," the Michigan native said when asked about his favorite books. "I mean, I like the 'Twilight' series, I thought that was fun."
"You like vampires?" the interviewer asked.
“I don’t like vampires personally. I don’t know any,” Mr. Romney said jokingly. “But you know, my granddaughter was reading it and I thought, 'Well this looks like fun.' And so I read that.”
This report leaves one question begging to be answered, is Governor Romney "Team Jacob" or "Team Edward?"
During the campaign, the former Massachusetts governor found it difficult to relate to the average American. His $10,000 wager to Governor Rick Perry and his infamous "47 percent" comment were just a few examples of his struggle to relate to voters. Since the end of the race, however, Mr. Romney has been acting like an average American with ease.
Mr. Romney has been photographed pumping gas and visiting Disneyland with his family. Several of these photographs can be seen here.
"Mitt Romney at my local gas station," Reddit user mkb95 wrote, posting a photo of Mr. Romney pumping gas. “He looks tired and washed up."
Several visitors to the "Magic Kingdom" spotted Governor Romney and posted their photos and reactions to Twitter.
"Mitt Romney is at Disneyland!!! He waved to me! #YES #sohandsome,” tweeted Madeline Harries.
“Yo, Mitt Romney is at DisneyLand. I just saw him. #Crazy #TooDressedUpToHaveFun," tweeted Robyn Leighton after spotting the former Republican presidential nominee wearing a blue plaid button-down shirt and dark parts.
After more than a year of campaigning for president, Mr. Romney looks like he's ready to step out of the spotlight for awhile. While he's likely to have some say in the Republican Party's push to change its image, the candidate needs a few weeks to recover from the stress of having to act presidential.
Now that the campaign is over, Governor Romney will have plenty of room to relax. Mr. Romney and his wife recently submitted plans to the City of California for the massive renovation of his home in the La Jolla neighborhood of San Diego. These renovations include an outdoor shower, a 3,600 square-foot basement and a car elevator. According to POLITICO, Mr. Romney wants to replace his current home with a structure that is three times larger.
