Clooney and Disney come together for ‘Tomorrowland’

George Clooney is teaming up with Disney for a new futuristic adventure: Tomorrowland. Clooney said he was attracted to the expected box office hit because of the hope he found in its message.

Clooney stars as Frank, a cynical former boy-genius, who embarks on a journey to discover the hidden unknowns of a secret place somewhere in time and space called “Tomorrowland.” He is joined by a teenage science geek. played by Britt Robertson, named Casey. The film also features British actor Hugh Laurie, who is known for his role as Dr. Gregory House on the TV American series House.

The film was directed by Brad Bird, who directed and won Oscars for the animated films The Incredibles and Ratatouille. Clooney said at the Tomorrowland premiere Saturday that Bird “is an optimist,” as reported by The Daily Star.

Clooney added that Bird was aiming to create a picture that allowed people to realize that life does not end the way it seems to when “we turn on the news.” “There’s a future out there if you get involved, and I like the idea of it,” Clooney said. He stated that he loved the idea of the story, the ending and “the way they talked about those subject matters.”

Bird praised Clooney at the premiere. He said that people are aware of Clooney’s humanitarian work, and they know he is willing to “take an unpopular stand” when believes something is right. Bird added that this trait is “good for his character” because “Frank is an idealist.”

Clooney, known for his roles in Ocean’s Eleven and The Descendants, walked the blue carpet in Disneyland in Los Angeles alongside his wife Amal and co-stars Raffey Cassidy and Robertson. Robertson appeared in films such as Cake and Dan in Real Life. And Raffey Cassidy can be seen in 2012’s Snow White and the Huntsman.
