Zac Brown Band quickly earned the No.1 spot on the Billboard 200; Josh Groban landed the No. 2 spot.
It looks like country group Zac Brown Band has returned to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200. Their new album, Jekyll + Hyde leaped 228,000 units in its first week on the chart.
This marks the band’s third time to have a studio album race to the top of the charts. Both You Get What You Give, in 2010, and Uncaged, in 2012, took top spots.
This is Zac Brown Band’s first LP, which was released late last month as reported by Ace Showbiz, to appear under John Varvatos Records, Big Machine and Republic Records. The band was previously signed to Atlantic Records.
The album offers a little less twang and little more rock. It even includes a rock-country crossover song Heavy is the Head featuring grunge rocker Chris Cornell of Audioslave and Soundgarden.
Zac Brown Band’s album is trailed on the charts by Josh Groban’s latest release Stages, according to Variety. Grobans album moved 180,000 units to secure the second spot. The album features covers of showtunes from shows such as A Chorus Line and Phantom of the Opera.
Three albums debuted this week, including Brown’s and Groban’s, and the third one was Tyler Farr’s Suffer in Peace. The country album moved 42,000 units and secured a No. 4 spot.
The album that accompanied the film Furious 7 dropped one spot to No. 3. Drake’s If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late came in at No. 5 and the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack dropped one spot to No. 6. Last week’s No. 1 album, Sound & Color by Alabama Shakes, dropped six spots to No. 7.
Albums by Sam Smith, Meghan Trainor and Taylor Swift trail behind the top seven. Sam Smith’s The Lonely Hour ranked eighth, Taylor Swift’s 1989 took the ninth spot and Meghan Trainor’s Title rounded out the top ten.
