Rosie O’Donnell’s estranged wife Michelle Rounds is asking a judge to force the former talk-show host to comply with random drug testing until their custody fight is settled, the Inquisitr reports.
The couple, who married in 2012, are set to face each other in court on Tuesday over custody of their 2-year-old daughter Dakota. Rounds has applied for full custody and has accused O’Donnell of being an unfit parent due to excessive use of alcohol and marijuana. She has claimed that O’Donnell consumes a bottle of wine nearly every night and regularly smokes pot.
Rounds and O’Donnell currently share custody of Dakota, but TMZ has reported that if the judge rules that the arrangement remain as is, Rounds’ attorney will request that O’Donnell submit to random drug and alcohol testing. If the tests show that the accusations have merit, an emergency custody order can be requested.
Sources connected to O’Donnell claim Rounds is frustrated because she signed a prenuptial agreement and is making a cash grab.
Rounds vigorously denies that claim, explaining to TMZ that she was wealthy before entering the marriage. Said Rounds: “I will walk away from every dime of Rosie’s money if I get full custody.”
O’Donnell told TMZ, “I’m not commenting on legal issues.”
However, the former stand-up comic has allowed her Instagram account to do the talking for her, posting snaps of Dakota with her siblings and O’Donnell herself: one particularly adorable photo shows O’Donnell’s oldest child, 20-year-old Parker, holding Dakota as an infant.
As Rounds also claims that O’Donnell is a hands-off parent, preferring to let nannies handle the day-to-day care of the children, these photos might paint a different story in court.
