A judge has ruled that taking a child to a Pink concert does not constitute bad parenting.
The singer ended up at the center of a custody battle after a woman was accused by her husband of bad parenting after their 11-year-old daughter to one of her shows in December 2013.
New Jersey Superior Court Judge Lawrence R. Jones wrote in his decision that the mother “in no way, shape or form exceeded the boundaries of reasonable parental judgment” by attending the Pink concert at Newark’s Prudential Centre, Yahoo reports. He also stated that: “[The mother’s] decision did not subject the child to any unreasonable risk of harm, or compromise [her] health, safety or welfare. To the contrary, when all the smoke from the custody litigation clears, it will be self-evident that all which happened here is that a young girl went to her first rock concert with her mother and had a really great time.”
In the complaint, the ex-husband accused Pink of using “lyrical profanities” and “sexually suggestive themes and dance performances” in her music, but the mother had already reviewed YouTube footage of Pink’s shows and considered them appropriate for her daughter’s age group.
Pink has had her own battle recently with Twitter haters, having to fight back after criticisms of her weight surfaced. She wrote a long message on the social networking site claiming she is “perfectly fine” and her body is having “some much deserved time off” after she received nasty online comments.
The singer will be honored by BMI (Broadcast Music Inc.) next month for her songwriting work. She has written a number of her own hits, including ‘Just Like A Pill’ and ‘God Is A DJ.’
The award will be presented at the 63rd annual BMI Pop Awards, which will be held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles on May 12. Previous honorees have included Adam Levine, Taylor Swift, Willie Nelson and Pitbull, among other musical luminaries.
“Pink is an extraordinary songwriter whose mastery of craft and passionate artistry has transformed a generation of Pop and Rock music culture around the world,” said BMI Vice President Barbara Cane.
“She has captivated music lovers with her unforgettable, emotional and edgy magnificence of song, voice and performance.”
