Top toy manufacturers predict huge profits during ‘year of the dinosaur’

Toymakers will be cashing in with movies like “Jurassic World” coming to theatres soon. It is expected that sales with dinosaur toys will surge due to two movies coming out later in 2015.

As reported on Monday, toy industries are calling 2015 “the year of the dinosaur.” Two movies coming out later this year, the fourth installment of “Jurassic Park” in June and “The Good Dinosaur” in November, will help toy companies boost sales.

One company, Hasbro Inc., is licensed with the “Jurassic Park” sequel and is already experiencing demands for certain merchandise. Movie merchandise truly brings a wave of toy sales for companies like Hasbro Inc.

Other movies, such as Transformers, have also helped toy companies turn a profit. Usually this hits the boys department in the toy making industry. When “Jurassic World” comes out, sales will increase more in the boys sector than the girls.

As for “The Good Dinosaur,” the movie will be a 3-D animation made by Disney’s Pixar. So, this will also bring another huge wave of sales for toy companies. The demand is so high that even non-licensed toy companies are trying to get a piece of the pie.

Mattel Inc. is currently trying to sell official movie merchandise without licenses. Despite money being spread throughout with the Dinosaur deluge, Hasbro will be the biggest beneficiary with this trend.

So far, Hasbro has netted $713.5 million in the first quarter with licensed toys for the Transformers and Nerf items. The company has surged five percent with no movie being released so far this year.

Stocks have risen 13 percent for Hasbro. This has been the biggest increase in five years for the toy company. Shares have gained 35 percent so far this year. All this increase has been happening in anticipation of the “Jurassic World” and other dinosaur movies coming out later this year.
