Rap artist Kanye West claimed that he refused a huge million dollar deal with Apple during the release of his new clothing line.
Kanye West has claimed that he turned a multi-million dollar deal working in a partnership with Apple. This was something of surprise since the rap artist has been a long time fan of the company and Steve Jobs.
It was reported in New York Times Magazine that the musician turned down a huge million-dollar deal with Apple. He also refused to elaborate on what the partnership was about. This statement came out from the artist during the release of his new clothing line Yeezy Season 1.
It was also reported by The Verge that West would not likely turn down any huge deal with the computer company that would help him design limited edition hardware. This was brought up because Apple made a similar deal with U2 that eventually became the Product Red iPod.
Kanye West has also been a huge supporter of Steve Job’s computer designs and the company itself. So, it is speculated that the deal was about streaming music.
Jimmy Iovine, the founder of Beats, has been trying to lure musicians away from other music streaming services, like Jaz Z’s Tidal music services. Recently, Kanye West signed with Jay Z’s company and has been critical of Apple’s approach with musicians.
West claims that Apple does not pay musicians to perform at iTunes festival and other music gathering sponsored by Apple. It is likely that Apple and Kanye West did not agree with some sort of music deal instead of a multi-million-dollar partnership.
