Baby accidentally shot and killed by toddler with unattended gun

In an Ohio home, a three-year-old boy with access to an unattended loaded gun accidently shot and killed a one-year-old baby.

At this time, it has not been released as to whether the two boys were related.

The victim has been identified as Braylon Robinson. At least one adult and several other children were in the Ohio home when the incident took place on Sunday, according to Daily Mail.

Minutes after the baby boy was shot in the head, he was swiftly rushed to the closest hospital. Soon after arriving for emergency care, the infant was pronounced dead.

At this time, the investigation is concentrating on trying to establish where the loaded gun came from as well as identify the adult responsible for leaving it in the home, loaded, in a place accessible by a child.

The Cleveland Police Chief, Calvin Williams, stated that the person accountable for having the loaded gun in the home will most likely be charged in relation to the shooting. Williams talked to reporters outside of the home.

“It’s a sad day for Cleveland. This fascination that we have with handguns, not just in this city but in this country, has to stop. This is a senseless loss of life.”

He added: “Currently we’re investigating where this firearm came from. We’re also investigating how this tragedy actually happened. A three-year-old can’t be held accountable for a tragedy like this. There have to be adults that either supplied the weapons, had charge of the weapons or knew the weapons were there and didn’t do anything to safeguard them.”

According to neighbors, the mother lived in the house with at least three small children. The toddler’s parents’ names have not been released at this time. The Cleveland Police said that an investigation is ongoing.
