With Season 5 set to begin on Sunday night, Snow will take a prominent role in the future of the hit HBO series.
In a fictional universe filled with outlandish and brash characters, Jon Snow stands out for being the opposite.
Game of Thrones is set to begin its fifth season Sunday night on HBO, and one of the emerging stars of the show has been Snow, played by Kit Harrington, who brings a sort of calm to the show and a moodiness that is rare — proving the old adage that sometimes, less is more.
Harington said that his character is “not a complicated” individual, although there is plenty of “frustration and rage churning inside Jon,” Harington added according to an Associated Press report.
Harington continued that Snow seems to bottle up his emotions, as he most certainly wasn’t a modern man who might seek help from a shrink. “He doesn’t overthink what’s going on with him,” he said.
Snow is becoming a star on the show almost through process of elimination, as most of the members of his Stark family have been slain in the last few seasons. Other standouts include Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Emilia Clarke.
Harington as performing in theater on the West End with the play War Horse shortly after graduating from London’s Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and from there he was poached by Game of Thrones to take on the big role, certainly a whirlwind journey for the young actor.
Snow said he’s always believed in “stillness” when it comes to acting, rather than using a lot of gestures, which is how he approach’s the character of Snow. He said it’s not much different from how he is in real life, “and that’s how I like acting myself — not doing too much,” he said according to the report.
Harington will appear in some other projects, which he has been able to carve out time for in the half of the year when he’s not shooting Game of Thrones. He appeared in the 2014 film Testament of Youth, which will be released in the United States in June.
