The singer played it cool and shrugged the incident off as a 'weird' moment.
Maroon Five’s world tour in support of the album V is off to an oddly eventful start.
For the second time in almost as many weeks the pop band’s lead singer, Adam Levine, 36 has had off-beat encounters with fans. Back on a March 16th show in Toronto, Levine bopped a fan in the head with his microphone. Now, on Monday night in Anaheim, California, an overzealous fan jumped on stage and grabbed at “The Voice” judge, ultimately scratching his ear.
This most recent kink came as Adam and his band performed their 2014 single ‘It Was Always You’. A female fan in a black dress climbed on stage and hurled her arms around his neck from behind, taking him and security by surprise.
According to By Justin Enriquez of the UK’s Daily Mail online Levine, told the crowd: ‘That was f***ing weird right? She like cut my ear with her fingernail.’
He added: ‘It’s just weird … you have this beautiful moment.’
‘And then the next thing you know someone’s f***ing in your face. It’s super terrifying.’
The front man was cool, calm and collected as he held his over zealous fan at bay, apparently telling her to ‘relax’, then kindly putting a quick arm around the enthusiast as the encounter ended with security guard finally catching up to her and escorting her off-stage. Levine jokingly waved goodbye and shrugged his shoulders toward the crowd.
The Canadian scene ended somewhat differently – after being hit on the head, front-row fan Stephanie Green was invited by the American to join him on stage.
