After being away for the better part of three years, R&B singer/songwriter Frank Ocean is making a return to the game this year. According to a new report from Entertainment Weekly, Ocean stoked the fires of the rumor mill on Monday evening, posting a picture on his website and his Tumblr that provided a few details about his next record.
The photo shows Ocean crouching down next to two piles of what appear to be magazines. The title on the album sleeve is Boys Don’t Cry, and each pile of magazines has slightly different artwork. The caption to the photo reads: “‘I got two versions. I got twoooo versions.’ #ISSUE1 #ALBUM3 #JULY2015 #BOYSDONTCRY.”
No other information – such as a track listing, possible guest features for the new album, or a single – was included with Ocean’s post. However, the caption pretty much confirms that Ocean has a new album coming out this July, that it will be called Boys Don’t Cry, and that it will be issued alongside some sort of magazine release.
Boys Don’t Cry will be Ocean’s second full-length album with a major label, and his third release overall. The R&B singer got his start in 2011, building buzz with the mixtape Nostalgia, Ultra. His official debut album, 2012’s Channel Orange, was even more acclaimed, earning placements on many publications’ best of the year lists, and even earning a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year.
Ocean has also made guest appearances on numerous blockbuster albums, such as Jay-Z’s Magna Carta, Holy Grail, Beyonce’s 2013 self-titled LP, and the Kanye West/Jay-Z team-up record Watch the Throne.
