Rihanna debuts single ‘American Oxygen,’ slams Indiana anti-gay law

Rihanna performed during the March Madness Music Fest on Saturday night, using the opportunity to rip Indiana for passing the law.

Rihanna has released a new single, and she’s using the opportunity to diss Indiana’s controversial new anti-gay law.

Portions of the song, “American Oxygen,” can be heard on commercials promoting the NCAA basketball tournament, and for the first time the full song was unveiled during the March Madness Music Fest on Saturday night, according to an E! Online report.

After the show, she thanked Indiana on Twitter, saying that she “would never forget how much fun I had with you tonight.” She added that “you SANG EVERY F–KING WORD!!! That s–t give me goosebumps!!!”

The song can only be heard on the newly unveiled streaming music service Tidal, which was created by Jay Z and unveiled to much fanfare recently. Beyonce also unvilved a new single, “Die With You,” on Tidal, which charges a $10 monthly membership fee.

Rihanna took advantage of her moment in the Indiana spotlight to slam a controversial new law known as the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which was recently amended but still caused outrage among those who say that it is an attempt to deny gays basic rights.

“Who’s feeling these new bulls–t laws that they’re trying to pass over here? I say f–k that s–t,” she said to the crowd in footage that was uploaded to the web.

Celebrities have come out in force against the law, including Ricky Gervais, Miley Cyrus, Andy Cohen, and George Takei, along with Apple CEO Tim Cook. Cyrus went so far as to call Indiana Governor Mike Pence an “asshole.”

Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger also spoke out against the law in a recent op-ed, arguing that many in the Republican Party were growing increasingly out of touch with Americans and urging them to reconsider.
